Our Story

Smew Ecological Solutions Pvt. Ltd. started out with a simple idea: providing sustainable and ecologically friendly answers to today's issues. In order to assist business clients in striking a balance between development and the environment, we aim to close the dearth of competent and committed environmentalists. Most of our team members are researchers, scientists, ecologists, and academics who are driven to provide creative yet workable solutions for our clients. Since then, we have developed into a team of experts with specialist knowledge in the social, environmental, and health domains. We are committed to offering cutting-edge solutions that are advantageous to both environment and our clients.

Dr Amit Kumar (Landscape Ecologist)

Amit Kumar is an ecologist with an experience of 10 years with a wide array of industrial and research exposure ranging from climate change, solid waste management, monitoring and evaluation of EMPs, renewable energy, waste to energy, mining, highways, agroforestry, bird and bat mortality projects, etc. He has worked with organizations such as SENES Consultants, Vanabandhu NRM&S, ICFRE (Dehradun), Arcadis India, etc. He has led multiple biodiversity and ecological assessment projects across states of India including ESIAs, Ecological studies, GIB surveys, and Bird and Bat mortality studies for solar and wind power projects across India.

DP Srivastava (Carnivore Ecologist)

DP Srivastava is working on the spatio-temporal distribution of tigers in the city of Bhopal for his Doctoral thesis from the Wildlife Institute of India. He has a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies from University of Delhi. He is a member of IUCN Commission of WCPA Connectivity Conservation Specialist Group, Commission on Education and Communication, and the Commission of Environmental Management. He is an expert in reading wildlife’s tracks and signs and monitoring wildlife in the field. He has worked with the Centre for Environmental Management of Degraded Ecosystems (CEMDE), University of Delhi on the ecological restoration of Yamuna Biodiversity Par,k and Tughlakabad Biodiversity Park. He has received grants from M.P. State Biodiversity Board, Bhopal; Rufford Foundation, Rainmatter Foundatio,n and Leo Foundation.

Shaswatendu Chatterjee (Biologist)

Shaswat is a Biologist and a Postgraduate in Biodiversity Sciences from Mumbai University. He has experience in understanding and identifying the Herpetofauna of the Western Ghats and has also contributed in various Butterflies, Birds, crocodile and insect surveys in Central India. He has been instrumental in conducting ecological surveys for SMEW.

Vaibhav Haldipur (Herpetologist)

Vaibhav is a Biologist with a post graduate degree in Environmental Science from Mumbai University. His interest areas are reptiles, amphibians, insects and birds. He has previously worked as a Naturalist in Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Maharashtra Nature Park. He has also worked with organizations such as Bombay Natural History Society, Bhavan’s Nature & Adventure Centre, Nature’s eye and Discover Enviro in various capacities. He was also a volunteer for a project on “Lesser florican and Great Indian Bustard” conducted by BNHS. He is also a professional Wildlife rescuer and has been associated with the NGO ‘SARRP India’.

Dr. Ankit Sinha (Raptor & GIS Expert)

Ankit Sinha is a Raptor Expert with a PhD in Biodiversity and Wildlife Conservation from University of Lucknow. He has worked extensively in Vultures in Central India. He has experience of more than 8 years in wildlife conservation and research. He has also been involved in various ESIAs, Ecological studies and species-specific studies across various states of India. At SMEW his roles and responsibilities involves field surveys, GIS mapping and reporting. In past, he has worked on government-funded projects such as Sodic Soil reclamation project in Uttar Pradesh, Preparation of People Biodiversity Register of Kannauj, Etawah and Mainpuri, Demographic and Ecological Studies of Vultures in Madhya Pradesh.

Ankush Pandey (Environment Expert)

Ankush is an Ecologist with a Master's in Environment Management from Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. He has more than five years of professional experience, and his roles and responsibilities include conducting field surveys, data analysis and reporting. He has worked on multiple ESIAs and Ecological studies.
